M.Sc., Commercial Fisheries Liaison Coordinator
Since November 2013, Emmanuel Sandt-Duguay is our Commercial Fisheries Liaison Coordinator, in collaboration with the Gespe’gewaq Mi’gmaq Resource Council (GMRC). He aims to develop a stronger role in commercial fisheries management for the Mi’gmaq and Maliseet First Nations member of MMAFMA, which are Gesgapegiag, Gespeg, and Viger; and those member of the GMRC, which are Listuguj, Eel River Bar, and Pabineau. Emmanuel participates to stock asessments, advisory committees, and other meetings related to fisheries management.
Emmanuel has over fifteen years of experience in the commercial fisheries for lobster, snow crab, rock crab, herring, mackerel, halibut as a deckhand, fisherman and captain. He holds a Bachelor in Marine Biology and a Master’s degree in Marine Resource Management, and has also been a Coordinator of the strategic watch of fisheries and aquaculture, Comité sectoriel de main-d’oeuvre des pêches maritimes (CSMOPM) for several years.
