Marie-Hélène Rondeau

M.Sc., Biologist Coordinator

Marie-Hélène is from Montreal, which did not prevent her from becoming passionate for the sea! During her biology studies in Montreal, Marie-Hélène decided to live a learning experience in the marine environment by enrolling in courses at Cornell University's Shoals Marine Laboratory located in Maine, United States. From there, she worked in environmental education and did her Masters in Oceanography at Université du Québec à Rimouski. As part of her memoire, she studied the evolution of the snow crab fishery and spent many hours on boats, which confirmed her interest in commercial fisheries and its actors. Marie-Hélène has an experience of 10 years in the sectors of fisheries, aquaculture and the environment. She completed, among others, projects on improving the selectivity and efficiency of commercial fishing gear.

As MMAFMA's Coordinator Biologist, Marie-Hélène coordinates projects in fisheries and aquaculture. She also writes research proposals, works on species at risk conservation projects, and participates to MMAFMA's awareness activities.
